German Embassy: Border Control Does Not Imply Suspension of the Schengen Agreement

The Embassy of Germany in the Republic of Armenia has made a statement on the controls on its borders with Austria.

The statement reads:

“Recently, Germany has introduced temporary controls on its border with Austria. The aim is to return to the established procedure for entering Germany. The latter are dictated by security requirements and regulated by the Schengen Borders Code.

However, this does not in any way imply suspension of the Schengen Agreement. The Embassy of Germany in Yerevan continues to provide visas for Schengen area countries. The embassy provides substitute visas for Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria and Sweden.”
