This Week in Europe
Below we would like to draw your attention to the upcoming events in Europe that directly concern or present a particular interest forArmenia. Special attention is paid to international organizations and the scheduled meetings and events in the framework of their activities.
Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, will travel to Ukraine and Georgia this week.
On Monday in Kyiv, she will meet the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin. She will also have meeting with the Speaker of Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman as well as representatives of political factions in the parliament. The High Representative/Vice-President is also due to speak with civil society organisations and the leaders of Crimean Tatars.
In Tbilisi on Tuesday the agenda of the Mogherini includes meetings with President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili. She will also meet the Chairman of the Parliament David Usupashvili and leaders of the parliamentary factions, as well as with civil society. Federica Mogherini will speak at the International High Level Conference “Achieving Gender Equality” and pay a field visit to the Administrative Boundary Line, with the EU’s Monitoring Mission (EUMM Georgia).
The EU summit will take place in Valletta on 11 and 12 November 2015 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Malta. The conference will build on existing cooperation processes between Europe and Africa, particularly the Rabat and Khartoum processes on migration, and the EU-Africa Dialogue on Migration and Mobility.
The plenary session of the European Parliament will take place in Brussels on November 11. Financing of two new EU trust funds for Syria and Africa and Member States’ contributions to these funds, Reform of the electoral law of the EU and other issues are on the agenda.
G20 Summit in Antalya, Turkey will take place on November 15. At the same time MFAs of G20 will hold an informal meeting.
