A New Head of Catalonia Elected

The new head of Catalan Parliament is elected an advocate of self-determination of Catalonia Carles Puigdemont, dw.com reports.

70 lawmakers voted for him, 63 voted against and three abstained.

At the head of Catalonia, Puigdemont succeeded Artur Mas, who was also for the self-determination of this part of Spain.

“We begin an extremely important process, unparalleled in our recent history, to create the Catalonia that we want, to collectively build a new country,” Puigdemont said after being elected.
