INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CHILDREN
Back in 1925 World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children in Geneva, Switzerland took place where June 1 was declared as International Day of Children’s Rights Protection. There is a number of international documents signed in protection of children’s rights. In their range are the Declaration on the Rights of the Child adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1959 and Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted in 1989, which regarded children as belonging to a special vulnerable group.
Armenia ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992. Afterwards, in 1996, Armenia adopted RA Law on “Rights of the Child”. Ever since, every year this day a number of events are being organized in the capital as well as in all the regions of Armenia.
