EASTERN NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICY SENIOR OFFICIALS MET IN BRUSSELS

On December 4 Eastern Neighbourhood Policy senior officials and Eastern Partners meeting took place in Brussels.

The ‘more for more’ principle in the framework of the renewed ENP means a stronger partnership with the EU for those countries that make more progress toward democratic and socio-economic reform, Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Commissioner Štefan Füle said, also citing the principle of mutual accountability, which implies a more open and more interactive dialogue between the EU and its eastern partners. “In other words, our partnership is not a one-way street. And this mutual accountability, this element of dialogue and of joint ownership is also the reason why we are having this meeting,” the Commissioner said.

He called on partner countries to undertake and implement more ambitious reforms towards ever more perfect democracy, rule of law and respect of human rights, stressing that that it was their choice whether to do it and a matter of their own political will.
