DAIMLER USED BY CHURCHILL FOR CAMPAIGNING UP FOR SALE
A rare Daimler car once used by Sir Winston Churchill on the campaign trail in the 1940s was sold on the auction site eBay last night for more than €470,000 (£400,000), The Times reports. The DB18 Drophead Coupé was one of only eight built at the factory in Coventry in 1939 and is the only one known to have survived. Photographs show Churchill touring in the car wearing his election rosette and giving his familiar V for Victory salute. He did not own the car but borrowed it for campaigning.
