Yerevan, 31 October 2013
The Co-Chairs of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee reaffirm their commitment to continue the further development of cooperation between the European Union and Armenia based on the efficient cooperation of the MPs of the two structures in the previous years in advancing Armenia’s European agenda.
The Co-Chairs remind that in the short-term perspective we may expect essential progress, particularly, for example, Armenia’s moving agenda. Thus, the Co-Chairs welcome the European Parliament in connection with giving “green light” to the EU-Armenia Visa Facilitation Agreement and they expect the same from the RA National Assembly to the Vilnius Summit.
Nevertheless, the Co-Chairs understand the difficulties that don’t allow anymore continuing the process of the EU-Armenia Visa Facilitation Agreement, including the Eastern Partnership of the Parliamentary Assembly, as it was designed this November in Vilnius. They wish to give credit to the negotiators of both sides of those agreements for the work done during the three and a half years and for the efforts made and call on to continue with the same energy, specify how we should advance after the Vilnius Summit. The Co-Chairs will provide the involvement of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and until May 2014, the end of this convocation of the European Parliament, a plenary meeting of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee will be held.
